Just keeping with yearly tradition and all, I figured I would make New Year's Resolutions. I mean, I do every year. However, if you were to ask me on February 15 what they were, I wouldn't be able to tell you. Pretty sad, because I have this, here, blog to keep me accountable.
Let's see how well I did for 2012. If you can remember, I said everything was going to be different.
Recap of 2012's goals "resolutions:"
1. I want to do the 366 photo a day challenge. I actually accomplished this. I still have to post the pictures from September 2 to December 31. Yeah, that could take awhile. Accomplished.
2. I want to participate in the 30 for 30 fashion challenge. I've seen this for the past years. Still haven't done it. This year? Totally.
3. I want to purchase two new lenses for my camera. My hubby bought me one lens (50mm f/1.8). Half accomplished.
4. I also want to purchase a tripod and wireless remote for my camera. I have purchased a tripod, but not a wireless remote. Honestly, I don't know why, because they are only $10-$15. Looks like I will put that on the list for this year. Half accomplished.
5. To sell my current DSLR, and buy an even better one. I did not sell my D3000. However, I did still upgrade to a more professional model, D7000. Accomplished.
6. Pay off another credit card. I had one paid off, but hubby bought a desktop, since his laptop stopped working. Good thing, I have a goal to eliminate ALL credit card debt this year.
7. Travel somewhere, since we have every year. Instead of going on another cruise, we went to California to visit where the hubby grew up. Accomplished.
I might tend to put things on the list that I know I can accomplish. I can't set up self up for failure, duh. It sounds like my list was more goals than "resolutions." Ooops.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
For 2013, I have plans for my blog. I started "Everything Happens For a Reason," about four years ago. It has taken quite awhile to grow my readership, where it has. Back in 2008, it was more about documenting than making connections. Since then, I have formed many friendships, but I want even more. I want to become even more social, and network more. This always means that I need to do my best with answering emails and responding to comments in a timely fashion. I totally suck at that part, sorry.
This year, I need to stop comparing myself to other blogs, as well as the amount of followers. I can't help get but insanely jealous, when someone goes from 50 followers to 1200, basically overnight. Quality>Quantity. I always think to myself, "What am I doing wrong?" " How come they have 50+ comments, when they may post a picture, and I get 10, when I post something deep?" Comparison really is the thief of joy.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, I'm just babbling, but I do want to make a change. Do things differently. Honestly, I don't have time for any "resolutions." I have my time occupied with Project 365, winter goals, and 101 in 1001 to even worry about it. I'm sure somewhere within those lists, "resolutions" are covered somewhere. In addition, to my zillion lists of goals and lack of "resolutions," I'm going to concentrate on my "word of the year."
A " word of the year" sounds more like it to me.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Check back tomorow, where I unhash 2012's "word of the year," and unveil 2013's "word of the year."

Happy New Year lovelies!

Wishing you health and happiness in 2013!
I like that you did goals last year instead of the usual "resolutions." I was thinking about making a 2013 Bucket List of places I want to go and things I want to accomplish.
Yay for working toward eliminating credit card debt! :)
Very good idea! I hope you accomplish all of your goals this year!
