Mail Call

I don't get on blogger everyday like I did, before my job. I was always online, and I mean always. Now, I check it sometimes at night, or every one or two days. I saw that Summer B. had put a dress that she had bought two of for sale on her blog. That was around August 31, and I didn't see her blog post, until about four days later. Luckily, it was still for sale. It was one of my favorite brands: Free People. I was also 100% sure that it would fit, because I have bought that brand before, and we are basically the same height. I absolutely love the dress, and it is the perfect length. It seems that this brand caters to "taller" girls (based on my experience and reading reviews), unlike the dress I bought from ModCloth. I have no idea what or where I'm going to wear it to, but I'm pretty sure that I will think of something.

Back around the first of September, my ex added me back to facebook. This was the ex that introduced me to his friend, which we all three hung out a few times. Then that friend, three months later, introduced me to his friend, which is now my boyfriend. The ex and I dated a short time; only from sometime in March to April 28. We were facebook friends from either February or March to the following August. After that, he deleted me. Here we are again, facebook friends. I have no idea, why he decided to add me again. Oh well. Hope he enjoyed the thousands of pictures of my boyfriend and I.

On September 21, I received a package. Usually, they put in my apartment complex's leasing office. I was tracking my packages online, earlier that today. It had a notice that it was left on the porch. I live in a pretty decent neighborhood, but you never know (hence my car getting broken into twice in a two year period). I came home to find my welcome mat on top of my package. That was nice of the UPS delivery man, but it was kind of funny. It wasn't noticeable at all. No one will ever look under there. *Sarcasm. I'm kind of glad they took the time to make the package look less noticeable, rather than just throwing it outside my door.

The package was from Charlotte Russe. I wish I had ordered the black lace long sleeve top. I could have sworn I did, but turns out that I didn't. The skirt that I really wanted was too big. Their sizes are usually weird and not true to size (in my case), so I went up a size. Big mistake. It didn't fit all that well. It still fits, but i don't really want it loose. I want it to fit, and it was the skirt that I really wanted. Ugh. Plus on the website, it says it costs $22.50, but the tag on the skirt says 16.99. So frustrating. Plus, the nearest one is 1.5 hours away. There isn't one in my city. I'm supposed to go to Washington DC in a few weeks (crosses fingers everything works out), and I can exchange it there. Why the one time you do what you think is best from past experiences, and then turns out it doesn't work out? Boo.

On September 22, I received a purse from NY & Company (too lazy to go to the mall, even though it is only three miles away). I also received my Michael Kors shoes from Bloomingdales.

On September 24, I received a pair of shoes and a ring from Target. Once again, too lazy to leave my apartment. I also received a pair of shoes from Steve Madden.

I also received a skirt from bebe, during that same week. I also received two pairs of sunglasses. I won a giveaway a few weeks ago from Dreams Do Come True blog, and got around to using my giftcard.

On September 27, I received a pair of shoes from CSN stores. (They gave me a $45 gift card to do a review). It will come as soon as I have time and an outfit to match.

Also, on the same day, I received purse from a giveaway hosted on So about what I said... blog.

{wanted to post on September 30. really posted on October 11}

We're Famous...Sort of

Yesterday, while we were at the opening day of the World Equestrian Games, one of the photographers took our picture. He gave us his card, and told us that the picture would be on our city's newspaper's website. It also might be in the newspaper, a week from Sunday. We will have to purchase a copy and find out. We woke up this morning and decided to look for our picture on the website. Sure enough, there it was!

World Equestrian Games: Part IV

World Equestrian Games: Part II

Once in a Lifetime Experience: World Equestrian Games

{i want to say 'hey' to my new followers. i'm also over a week behind in replying to your comments. i should be able to after wednesday. i have tons of homework for graduate school due. boo}

Back in June, there was a 100 days to go celebration for the World Equestrian Games. Last night was the kickoff celebration of the World Equestrian Games. There was tons and tons and tons of events, booths, tents, and concerts going on downtown. Today, September 25, was the first official day.

Before I get into the experience and the pictures I'll give some background information on the World Equestrian Games and the Kentucky Horse Park.

The 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games (officially the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games) will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky from September 25 to October 10, 2010. This will be the sixth edition of the games which are held every four years and run by the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI). For the first time, paralympics events will be added in the program. This will also be the first time the games will be hosted by a city outside of Europe, and also the first time that all events at the games will be held at a single site.

The Kentucky Horse Park is a working horse farm and an educational theme park opened in 1978 in Lexington, Kentucky. The equestrian facility is a 1,224-acre (4.95 km2) park dedicated to "man's relationship with the horse.

This is the first time I have ever used public transportation (taxis, limos, and charter buses for long trips don't count). I've never needed to use it, because I always drive myself everywhere. We are lucky that our city is hosting it, so we drove downtown, parked, and went to the transit center to get on the bus, so we could go to the horse park. As we were waiting, a man came walking across the street towards us. He was looking at me, up and down, and like he was going to say something to me. He walked up right up to me and said to David, "She's pretty." David said, "Thank you," and then the man walked away. Behind us was a family of four or five. (David told me this later) The man walked up to the woman, without saying a word, stood there and shook his head (like nope). It was all strange. The way that David described it was extremely funny, but it was so rude to the other family. David can't get over how often strangers come up to me and tell me I'm pretty. I'm extremely flattered.

David and I weren't going to go because we aren't really into horses and horse related events (with the exception of Keeneland and the Kentucky Derby). We decided that we just had to go at least one day, since this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We just got grounds passes, so we didn't get to see any events. However, there was so much to do, that we weren't bored.

While we were eating lunch, one of the guys from the media took our picture. He took down our names and cities (which mine and David are the same), and gave us our card. He told us that the picture should be on the website tomorrow, and most likely in the newspaper a week from now. *crosses fingers*

The World Equestrian Games aren't as big in the United States as other parts of the world. In fact, I had never heard of them, until they starting a countdown clock on the billboards and all over the place about 545+ days ago. It was also odd seeing all the horses and how small they were. I'm used to Thoroughbred horses aka racing horses. Now, those horses are huge!

It was a pretty neat experience. It was also cool to see all the people from the other countries (58 participating nations). I'm really glad that we got to share this 'once in a lifetime opportunity."

Be sure to check out my next three posts (pictures only). I would have put them within this post, but it is already extremely lengthy as it is.

{i'm also being lazy, and not watermarking my photos for these posts. there's just too many pictures}
